"Follow Jade! Learn Chinese DVD – Let’s Visit Chinese Kindergarten" gives a glimpse on how it is for small children in school, despite the kindergarten school being in Beijing, China.

The kindergarten kids are so cute in this Follow Jade DVD! Like any kindergarten, whether here or in China, the different personalities of the children are charming to watch. Some kids are excited and energetic; there are also children who seem shy and quiet. Activities in the classroom are fun too. As a form of practice, the kids are asked to recite their Chinese phrase lessons and they are also taught to sing cute songs to brighten the lesson up.

Just like in US pre-schools, lessons don’t have to be confined in the classroom. You will see in the Follow Jade DVD that the kids go outside to play. Playtime becomes a part of learning when kids chant rhymes and sing songs using words they just learned from the teacher inside the classroom. Songs are also sung while the children play and run around in circles. The kids also insert Chinese words into the songs as they go "choo choo train" one after the other in queue.

Kindergarten classrooms have a lot of visual aids for kids to practice lessons. Children can be asked to identify or point the words in the lesson. Follow Jade! Let’s Visit Chinese Kindergarten DVD has a lot of segments that simulate classroom visuals. These will remind viewers of classroom pictures that teachers use to review children how much they learned.

Follow Jade DVD is an interactive show and a perfect example is, after a run through of specific color words in Chinese, stars in different colors will be flashed and teacher Jade then asks children viewers which color is which. Children can point out the answer on the screen as they watch at home. Follow Jade also tests viewers by asking about another choice instead of the correct answer. For example, while pointing to water – "Is this niu nai (milk)?... No, that is something else."

Chinese words covered in the Follow Jade DVD include: Greetings, Colors, Numbers, Drinks and some Chinese words for singing. Lessons in the Follow Jade DVD are based on Jade Qian’s years of experience in teaching children and families to speak Chinese.

Pre-school viewers from any country will be excited with the Follow Jade! Learn Chinese DVD – Let’s Visit Chinese Kindergarten because not only will they learn new Chinese words, it will also give children a feel of how it is to attend school. In addition, they will get a glimpse of how similar Chinese pre-school kids are to them.
