Memory foam mattresses have the ability to provide substantial and constant support to people with differing sleeping styles and body types. While a plethora of manufacturers that create uncomfortable spring and coil type mattresses try to get consumers to purchase their products by slapping plush and aesthetically pleasing coverings on them, people often find that their sleep and body suffer from making these purchases.
Although lying down on a pillowtop mattress may sometimes feel like lying on a fluffy cloud, it is not necessarily the best for your neck and back. Metal coil mattresses are insufficient in supporting your weight properly and proportionately, and can often leave you achy and tired during the day when you need to be on top of your game. Many customers who get tricked into purchasing a mattress like this will attempt to place a board under the coils to try to help provide them with firmer sleeping support. This practice may temporarily work, but will also shorten the lifespan of their mattress causing them, in the end, to spend more money. The experts on mattress care recommend that you avoid using hard boards under mattresses to help them last longer.
Memory foam mattresses are a much better at providing your entire body with proper support while you sleep. There are many benefits gained from sleeping on memory foam mattresses including the following:
• Memory foam mattresses can reduce the amount of pressure placed on sensitive joints and nerves in the body while you sleep. This is especially beneficial for those who suffer from joint problems, as adding pressure to already inflamed joints only exasperate their conditions and worsen painful symptoms for them.
• Memory foam mattresses can provide proper support in proportion to the different parts of your body and their differing weights. This means just the right amount of support for your head and neck and just the right amount of firm support needed for your back and hips. If you tend to sleep on your stomach, a memory foam mattress can help keep excess pressure off your ribs and chest. In the simplest terms, this means that you are less likely to suffer back and neck sprains, stiffened joints, and other affects that sleeping on coil mattresses are notorious for causing.
• Memory foam mattresses can contour to your body offering you more comfort and support than coil spring mattresses can. A coil mattress can sag in areas where your body needs extra support, exposing you to a higher risk for spraining muscles and joints while you sleep.
• Memory foam mattresses can also help those people suffering from sleep issues to reduce and, often times, eliminate problems that can keep them awake at night or cause them to awaken several times throughout the night. Sleep is important to living a healthy lifestyle. A memory foam mattress can help you to get a peaceful night of sleep and in turn, better your health.
• Memory foam mattress do not have inner coil springs that can break and work their way through the top of a mattress. This can pose a danger of sticking or cutting someone who happens to roll over a broken spring while sleeping.
• Memory foam mattresses are nearly impervious to the pests and allergens that can burrow into the inner linings of coil mattresses and make you sick. Simply encasing a memory foam mattress in an inexpensive mattress cover made out of solid materials will help you to create an impermeable barrier between bed bugs, mites, dust, and other allergens as it helps protect you and your family.
• Memory foam mattresses generally last longer than coil spring mattresses, making them a better investment of your money over the long term.
Latex mattresses do not necessarily have an advantage over memory foam mattresses either. While they can provide excellent support and have greater elasticity than memory foam mattresses do, the have added elasticity that can give them a springy feel as opposed to the firmer feel of memory foam mattresses. More makers of memory foam mattresses are using latex and memory foam together to construct mattresses with higher comfort and support rating. It is important to note that people who are allergic to latex should not sleep on a latex foam mattress or a mattress made with a combination of latex and memory to prevent having serious allergic reactions.
Many people sleep on air mattresses thinking that they are better than memory foam mattresses as well. When you consider that air mattresses are prone to breakage that could potentially leave you without any sleeping support in the middle of the night, it is easy to see that memory foam mattresses are the better choice. An air mattress is preferable to coil mattresses for a few nights stay at a friend’s or families home or while vacationing, but for long-term, maximum support that you can rely on, memory foam mattresses are truly hard to beat.
When considering making a mattress purchase, it is a good idea to arm yourself with knowledge about memory foam mattresses and their benefits. This will not only help you in choosing the right memory foam mattress for yourself but it can also help you to avoid the imitations you will come across that can actually be worse for you than sleeping on a coil spring mattress.
