Santorini
Santorini is the quintessential Greek island with its picture postcard views of blue domed churches overlooking the rugged volcanic caldera cliffs. It has been said that the sunsets in Santorini are the best in the world, and no better are these, observed from your own private Jacuzzi located in your luxury holiday resort in Greece. The island was formed by a volcanic explosion and proof of this can be seen by visiting the island’s famous red beach which is composed of red and black volcanic rocks. One of the most visited destinations is the secluded Minoan city of Akrotiri, which simply must be visited whilst on your holiday in Greece. It is thought to be one of the most important archaeological sites in the world.
Halkidiki
Halkidiki is considered to be the greenest of all the Greek islands, and its lush vegetation coupled with the area’s sandy beaches has made the area popular with visitors on their holidays in Greece. One of the island’s most well-known natural areas is the lake of Polychrono which is surrounded by pine trees and is most well-known for the rare species of sea turtles that live here. Another popular visitor attraction is the Petralounia Cave which is known for its decorative crimson coloured stalagmites and stalactites.
Mykonos
Mykonos may be best known for a nightlife that rivals Ibiza, but there is more to this luxury holiday island in Greece than meets the eye. The island has its fair share of secluded resorts and a holiday here can be equally spent enjoying luxury spa treatments, as it can be experiencing the island’s party hotspots. For those after a slower paced holiday in Greece the island has many stunning beaches that you can couple your spa treatments with. Psarou Beach is known for attracting celebrities from all over the world, whilst the long sandy beach of Elia has a range of different watersports available.
Kefalonia
Kefalonia was the beautiful island setting for the film ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ and since then it has attracted a number of tourists wanting to experience the stunning natural setting of this island whilst on their holidays to Greece. Kefalonia is known for its traditional fishing villages and Fiscardo is the most famous of these due to the fact it was the only one not destroyed by the disastrous earthquake that hit the island in 1953. The Emelisse Art Hotel is one of the most luxurious resorts on Kefalonia, and the outdoor cinema means that you can end every day whilst on your Greece holiday watching a classic film, with a cocktail in your hand and taking in the breathtaking sunsets of the region.
Paros
The island of Paros may be one of the lesser known holiday resorts in Greece, but with its beautiful beaches and traditional villages it is a popular holiday destination among mainland Greeks and those in the know. The resort of Naurossa is popular with young Cypriots who visit the destination for its buzzing club atmosphere, but tourists from further afield prefer to visit Parasporo’s Bay, dotted with some of best luxury resorts in Greece which couple an extensive range of spa facilities with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea.
