How to Build Solar Panel: Steps 6-10

For whatever reason you have decided to build a solar panel, be it to try and reduce your carbon foot print, or simply because you want to try and decrease your utility bills, or perhaps you live in an area with no power, whatever the reason, there are 20 steps on how to build a solar panel.

After reading what equipment that you will need, and completing steps 1-5 on how to build a solar panel, it is now time to move on to steps 6-10.

Step #6: next to do is to connect the solar cells together in series. And example of doing this is to use a unique approach where all of the solar cells are soldered together in a zig zag pattern and this helps to minimize the amount of interconnection wire that is used.

Step #7: the next step on your list is to solder the solar cells together and to do this, one has to be placed face down.

Step #8: once you have done step number 7, take another solar cell and make sure that it is face down and then place the interconnection wires on top of the previous solar cell from step 7 being sure to leave a 1/16 inch space between the solar cells and then solder the interconnection wires to the solar cell as described in step 7.

Step #9: now that you are able to solder solar cells together, it is important to know what the sequence of soldering the 36 solar cells together into a compacted form which begins at number 1 and ends with number 36.

Step #10: continue to solder the 36 solar cells together and when they are finished, they should look a little like a circular mosaic all of the cells should be close together, even and then you are ready to move onto the next step in the making of your very own solar panel.

Now that you have soldered the solar cells together, you are half way there of completing your first solar panel.
