One of the many hassles that used to be the nightmares of car owners before is the tirelessly rolling up and down of car windows. Through time, later technology has answered the call for modern car windows and has brought up the car power windows. With just a click of the button found either at the passenger side or at the driver's, these powered car windows automatically roll up and down. It is a great breakthrough from the previous manual operation that we used to do from older car models.
But then, car power windows are great unless they won't function well. Much worse is if these windows won't open or close anymore. Basically, this type of windows fully depends on the motors attached to them to move up and down. If your car power windows don't work, then there probably is some problem with their motors. Rather than get your car to the nearest car repair shop and spend a considerable amount of money, it is best to know the quick and easy steps to help you get those car power windows back to its normal operation.
First thing you need to do is to properly unscrew the battery cable from the motor of your car. The battery is usually located under the hood near its front left side. After you have successfully unscrewed the battery, it is time for you to have the interior door panel removed. It is important that you remove any trim pieces and set them aside before you unscrew any bolts. After removing all the necessary screws and bolts, rock loose the door panel from its retaining brackets.
The next step is to carefully disconnect the wirings for both the power door lock and the power window. After disconnecting, use a multi meter to test the power window wiring. Such test will let you know if the problem is with the power window motor. You also need to check the fuses for your power windows to see if they need to be changed. To carefully remove the power window motor, loosen the retaining bolts that connect it to the door.
After which, you may then place the new motor to its proper position and have it tested with the multi meter to make sure if it is operational. After successfully testing the new motor, you may then put back together the door and carefully place back all the bolts and screws you have removed from your initial steps.
Knowing to repair some important parts of your car on your own is part of being a responsible car owner. Car owners don't necessarily need all the technical knowledge to make some light repairs for their car. Being knowledgeable on such repairs can help save a lot of time and money.
