Warmth and quality:
What answer could you give for a Tog rating? What relationship exists between the warmth of a quilt and the quality it possesses?
The measurement of warmth per unit quilt is called a Tog. The rating is carried out in a laboratory and uses a quilt on a flat surface. It is very important to bear in mind how the quilt drapes around you and in this case you should be able to mark whether you are on a flat ground surface.
After use, anything starts degrading in quality and so does the quilt, the moment you sleep on it, it is not new any more. The moment it gets into use, the Tog rating starts to get lost especially if washing takes place. The warm moments are vital and hence they are the determinant factors of the Tog ratings and are at their best in a rough guide.
How cheap the quilt is tells us how low the tog rating is and so does the quality of materials that constitutes it, "poor". On its own the tog rating tells you less about the quality of a quilt. It is important to observe the tog rating when you are choosing a quilt but this does not bur you from a good buy.
Filling: Is it Natural or synthetic?
Do you prefer modern to traditional? A natural or synthetic quilt takes you in this dilemma. However, I believe you still have this feeling that, you would not think of the same if you made a proper comparison between the two.
From a previous market research, it was realized from the source that, compared to both natural and synthetic quilts, so many people would prefer sleeping on natural quilts as a 75 percent declared.
The reasons constituted;
-
The natural quilt is highly absorbent as compared to the synthetic. As you retire to bed, the body loses so me moisture which is absorbed by the quilt and dries up in the morning when you have aired the natural quilt. This prevents a sticky feeling that is experienced in the synthetic quilt.
-
The natural quilt drapes better around the bumps and the lumps of the body which synthetics cannot do better than because of their stiffness. In a chilly night, a natural quilt does better than a synthetic quilt of the same tog ratings despite how new both are.
-
You may ask why this, the issue is that, for tog rating a natural quilt will be lighter than a synthetic quilt. This is evidenced in the ability of the natural synthetics delivering warm nights during sleep.
The longer-lasting Filling
They last for a longer time than the synthetics which take five years of a life time and lose their filling. The filling becomes thin and matted. As compared to the natural one, the filling for the natural quilt stays longer and remains cozy and this may be up to 40 years.
