Spring cleaning is the thorough cleaning of the house, flat or any building. In colder areas, spring is the best and the most pleasant season after gloomy winters. People choose this time for proper cleaning of their houses, and that’s why this specific cleaning is called spring cleaning. Actually, this is the annual cleaning of the house, from top to bottom. Spring cleaning refers to any type of heavy duty cleaning.
Let us share some tips for spring cleaning of your house in an efficient way.
• The most important thing about spring cleaning is that you need to focus all your attention on this task. Gather proper tools and supplies for cleaning like cleaning agents, brooms, soft clothes, buckets, brushes and other things to avoid unnecessary trips to bring them again and again. Check if your hoover is working properly. Empty a dust bag.
• When you start cleaning, first of all de-clutter all the rooms. Discard the clutter and rubbish. Do not make your house a junkyard.
• While dusting, start it from top to bottom as dust falls from top to bottom. If you clean floors first, they will get dirty again when you clean things from the top.
• Be organized and make a list of the tasks you want to achieve in a day. It will reduce your stress of cleaning whole house at once and you can clean a particular area properly. Keep in mind; do not come out of the room without completing the task. To make it systematic, start cleaning in clockwise direction.
• To avoid streaks, wash the walls from top to bottom. Small knickknacks should be washed instead of dusting, it takes less time. Mushy odours of the carpet can be absorbed by sprinkling baking soda on it overnight.
• Avoid mixing of cleaning agents like ammonia and bleach as this is toxic. To ease the cleaning job, let the cleaning agents set for a few minutes on the surface.
• Walls can be cleaned by the excellent cleaning solution which is prepared by mixing 1/2c.ammonia, 1/4c.baking soda, 1/4c.white vinegar in 1 gal warm water.
• Exterior walls can be cleaned by washing it using a water hose. Windows can be cleaned by a spray cleaner. Spray cleaner can be prepared by mixing 3 tbsp. ammonia, 1 tbsp vinegar and water. Fill it in a spray bottle. Or you can simply buy a special solution – you can find variety of them in the market. Window panes should be wiped with old newspaper sheet.
• While cleaning a bathroom, make use of cleaning agents like alcohol, ammonia, white vinegar and baking soda. Spots from bathroom fixtures can be removed by rubbing alcohol. White vinegar can be used to clean the spots from glass doors or mirror. Kerosene can be used for cleaning rusty tiles. Lemon furniture oil is also very useful while cleaning stubborn marks from the surfaces.
• Kitchen counters can be cleaned by pouring club soda and spread it by using a soft cloth. Then rinse it with clean water. Hard water spots from the stainless steel sink can be removed by rubbing it with alcohol, using a soft cloth.
Once, you clean the things, it is most important to maintain that cleanliness throughout the year. And next spring the cleaning may be not so hard.
