Now a day a trend is that wedding ring can not be made with out platinum. It is more durable and fashionable too. Platinum with white alloys of gold are demanding by the wedding couples. Slightly yellow ‘white’ gold alloys which was used with gold is now replaced with cheaper nickel-gold alloy with a plating of rhodium. This can be cheap than before but it is it is not at all durable and good. As we have said earlier that titanium has become a hot element for making a wedding ring and every couple wants that. The reasons are its durability, affordability, and gunmetal grey color. Tungsten carbide is also another metal which is gradually picking its name in this list of wedding ring materials. With gold or platinum inlays tungsten carbide is used. It is equally durable like platinum and titanium and can be molded to a finer finish than the metals mentioned before.

There are lots of other reasons for which it is the favorite and most preferable metal. It is most ideal because it is with out any kind of irritation or skin allergy. Anyone with sensitive skin can wear this without any worry because it is most commonly alloyed with iridium or ruthenium, both of which are precious metals in the platinum metal group. Platinum only very rarely causes an allergic reaction; however, to be safe, always consult a physician.

For both men and women platinum wedding ring looks beautiful. Its intricate finishing and carving of body looks good when you wear this in your finger. Its silver white body feature and uncommon look can steal everyone’s attention towards you. It is not called the most precious metal jokingly. Another reason that men’s platinum wedding rings have become so popular is that the metal never tarnishes. Its intense luster will remain intact over the years, despite everyday wear. Further, it is not vulnerable to problems like stress corrosion or cracking. As it is strong that is why when it is used for jewelry platinum is always alloyed with a second metal only to lend the second metal extra strength and high polish. To make it soft and flexible it is done. High polished feature can be hold by adding this second metal with this metal. It also helps the platinum to resist the scratching. What is considered to be pure platinum actually contains no more than 5 percent alloy, and is often marked ‘‘.95 Plat’’ inside the band. Platinum with 10 percent allow can also be purchased, and may be marked as ".90 Plat" or similar. So by the mixture of another alloy platinum can be made suitable for making jewelry like wedding ring. For making wedding ring or any kind of ring is most common and usual use of platinum. But it can be used for making any kind of jewelry like necklace, armlets, and ear rings and so on. Platinum can bear any design beautifully and marvelously.
