The dawn of the internet has brought with it the need to integrate it with many of the socially accepted practices of the modern world today, primarily in to aspects: education and business. The need for a fast and efficient mode of delivery and communications has always been a primary consideration in business, and the internet has provided most businesses with a speedy form for communication venue. For businesses that deal primarily in information, the internet is viable a delivery route that is not only incomparably fast, but also quite secure, since electronic information delivery is always tagged and can be tracked by the sender. The internet has also proven to be quite the educational implement, since practically any and all information that can ever be needed in a learning process is readily available on the internet. The internet has, in fact, become so popular in learning applications that some have even decided to make full use of it in the learning process, thus developing the concept of e-learning. E-Learning has been accepted for convenience in both educational and business improvement-related applications, being largely accepted by the learners as a learning vehicle that is easy to master, delivers the learning modules in a manner that is well suited for individual preferences, and can even be tweaked to focus on a particular skill or method development, allowing for maximized use of learning time. The e-learning solutions that are widely accepted on the market, however, have not been spared from the usual tirade of criticisms. There are those who believe that the e-learning tools being used today are not without its drawbacks, and they maintain that these drawbacks are potentially more hazardous and should be given more attention because of the fact that they are mostly the aspects not readily seen by the learners and those using e-learning solutions in their learning modules. Here are some of the drawbacks that are being cited in the criticisms:

Technological requirements

Being made with the latest innovations in technology, it is but natural for people to think that these e-learning solutions can only be run using the latest in computer systems. While this may be applicable to some e-learning management systems, it is not always the case with others. Some e-learning solutions and tools will run perfectly well on whatever technology is readily available and will not always require the latest model in the market. The developers of the e-learning solutions have considered this fact and have engineered the effective performance management systems to be able to function in most computer systems, taking into account that not everyone is in the habit of buying into the latest innovations and technologies available on the market.

Content requirements

Contrary to what others may think of e-learning tools, they do no come packaged and with pre-set content. E-Learning solutions are typically fully customizable to be able to answer the learning and training needs of the learners. Content is practically decided by either the training officer conducting a training seminar or the individual learner who is seeking to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Unnecessary expenditure

There will always be people who think that e-learning solutions, just like everything else offered online, is nothing more than a scam to try to trick people out of their hard-earned money. Companies who have integrated e-learning solutions into their training modules will attest to the fact that e-learning tools, when properly utilized, may result in a significant increase in company productivity, ability to cope and react to adverse situations, and improve basic knowledge about particular aspects of the business.
