iPod Nano - A trendsetter and revolutionary device is what the iPod Nano means to many music lovers.
The popularity of this music player has grown very much in the last few years.
Below are the reasons behind the popularity of iPod Nano.
Read below to find why the iPod Nano is so popular among the people.
The iPod Nano is not just another music player. This iPod version is a flash memory based jukebox that as a long battery life and attractive color screen. Unlike some other models, this iPod is not a smaller version of another popular model or a combination of any other two versions. It is distinct in features and looks.
The user interface of his iPod is same as with other model, but it is different in under the skin, and particularly the screen.
You would say that color screen is not a new thing in the iPod models, but then it depends on the way you see the color. The LCD color screen of iPod Nano is of
1.5 inches and it has a blue-white LED backlight. The LEDs features full brightness that is faster than other LCD backlights. This function is very useful as the iPod turns on and turns off the backlight to save the battery.
Another notable difference from the previous iPods is the absence of FireWire support.
Although iPod models came with USB 2.0 cable and they supported syncing by using a FireWire cable. But, the iPod Nano is the first model with USB only. When connected through a ‘FireWire’ to a Dock Connecter cable, you will see a message ‘This is a USB only device’. Though it still charges off the FireWire cable, but does not allow any file transfers. Also if the computer has only the older USB 1.1, then it still syncs with iTunes, but file transferring is done at an extremely slow speed.
Another thing that differentiates it is that this gadget has no moving parts, except the ‘Click’ wheel. This was made possible with flash memory, especially for song storage. The flash memory in previous models was used as a data buffer. In those iPods, the songs were pulled from the hard disk and stored in the buffer for protecting skipping. But, as the hard disk in an iPod is very slow, so it can cause delays when a song is loaded off the drive. So, this time Apple thought to preload songs via buffer to avoid a pause between the songs. In Nano, changing tracks is faster compared to the hard disk based iPods. Also, additional benefit of a flash memory is reduced weight.
In the iPod Nano, the small size and weight are very attractive features. This device slips in the pocket very easily.
