Taking Care of Car Leather Trim
One of the most noticeable factors of a car’s interior is the car leather trim. It provides each vehicle with a touch of class and sophistication. It is not surprising that car enthusiasts usually make it a point to get the highest quality car leather trim with the best designs for their cars. There are many considerations in buying car leather trim.
As was mentioned earlier, the style of the style of the car leather trim is a crucial factor for car owners. Beyond that, other factors include the quality of the product, wear and tear of the leather, and the store in which to buy the car leather trim.
Factors that Affect the Leather
Leather. It is a must-have car accessory for many because of its elegance, durability, and quintessential style. But it is important to recognise that leather today is far different from the types of leather being used in the past. For example modern leather is thinner, softer, and needs more care.
Also, when moisturising oils are placed into modern leather, it quickly evaporates because inside temperature of a car can easily reach 100 degrees during a hot day. In contrasts, the older types of leather used were thicker so when it is tanned, moisturizing oils went into the leather and it usually takes months before the heat evaporated it.
It can be said that the type of leather today is "inferior" compared to the types of products used many years ago. Even with that being the case though, it doesn’t mean that modern leather is not good. It typically needs more care. Other than that, it is a good product to have and use.
Another factor is of course, the seat design. The car leather trim will depend to a certain extent on the design of the car seat. Bucket seats crease less because it grips the body. However, they wear more quickly compared to other types of seats because the only way to sit down and get up from the area is to rub the seat up and down.
Meanwhile, big broad seats like the ones found on Bentleys and Rolls-Royce tend to be more susceptible to the weight of a person. The bum of a person can also affect the wear and tear of the car leather trim. For example, a person with a small bum has more weight placed on a tighter area causing the seat to crease in the center. Someone with a big bum tends to crease the whole cushion because of the associated distribution on weight.
How to Take Care of Car Leather Trim
Given all these, you might wonder, "is there a way to preserve modern car leather trim?" Fortunately, there is. First of all, it is essential to keep it clean. If the seat has cracks on them then dirt will inevitably ingrain itself into the cracks. Be sure to wipe the car leather trim and seat with a clean damp cloth each month. And every six months, remember to use a mild cleaner for your leather and dilute it with water.
