Many people get excited by the prospect of giving their bathroom a fresh makeover. With DIY shows on the increase with plenty of handy tips to get started, it is easier than ever before to get your bathroom renovated.
Much of the appeal in a makeover lies in having a beautifully designed bathroom at minimal cost. If you follow the DIY shows that is. Many of these makeover shows advise on mixing and matching sanitary ware from different suppliers in order to save on cost. Whilst this can be a good idea for some providing great results, it can still be tricky. For instance, if mishandled, mixing and matching different sanitary ware can lead to some terrible results. So hunting for bargains can be good, but be prepared for the worst if it goes wrong.
Beware of Colour Inconsistency
Some purchasers just like the idea of looking around for different products, and purchasing them based on their individual appeal. They have an idea of how the end completion will look, and the money aspect is not the only consideration. However, whilst this can work in some cases, it can also prove to be quite tricky. For instance, you are less likely to encounter the problem of colour inconsistency if you purchase your products from the same suppliers. If you don't, then you may take the risk of it becoming very obvious once you have the entire bathroom suite fitted.
Colour consistency is also important for ensuring that your bathroom has a finished uniform look. Expert claim that this is why purchasing from the same manufacturer and range is so important in achieving this goal. After all, it is better to spend a little more and end up with a bathroom that looks uniformed, rather than one that looks uncoordinated. If you are going to spend lots of money on renovation, it is only appropriate that you achieve the desired result. You need to be extra cautious with smaller bathrooms. Colour inconsistency is more glaringly obvious in smaller bathrooms as the sanitary ware is located within very close proximity making differences much more noticeable.
Clashing Items
Looking out for colour inconsistency is not your only problem. There may be a piece of sanitary ware in the bathroom that may be causing a clash with the other pieces in the room. This will knock off the overall uniformity of the bathroom that will neither coordinate nor compliment the rest of the bathroom.
You should not be put off by purchasing a unique looking basin or bath if it appeals to you. However, some home-owners take it one step further by trying to have three radically different styles in their bathroom which ends up spoiling the overall look.
If you wish to go down the more selective route, it is best to select one type of sanitary ware you want to provide the focus, and the others should be from the same selection. This way you will have an overall coordinated look!
