What Do You Want In a Hotel?

Visiting another city or taking a week-long vacation in another place? One of the first things we would worry about when on a trip or vacation would be where we will be staying. We start looking at the hotels in the area and wonder which of them would be the nicest to stay in for a couple of days. For many of us who have already traveled, we already have our preferences in hotels. There are also some things that we wish the hotels would have in order to make our stay more comfortable.
This is one of the problems in staying in hotels. There will always be something that we are not happy about. It may be that the room is too small for you, or that the bathroom is not clean enough, or maybe that the water is either too hot or too cold. If you were staying in a five-star hotel and have all the money to burn, these issues would probably not bother you. But generally, for people staying in ordinary hotels, we find ourselves wanting more comfort and more desirable services to make our stay worthwhile.
So what do we want in a hotel? What will make us want to come back and choose that specific hotel when we visit that city again? The top three factors are comfort, service, and accessibility.
Comfort may really be the number one factor out of the three. We stay at a hotel that can help us sleep all right and relax after a day of hanging out in the city. The bed has to be comforting, with fresh sheets and fluffy pillows. The room should have the right temperature, not too cold and not too warm. The same for the bathroom and the shower. The water must be clean. There should be air conditioning or a heater, and the guests should be able to control the temperature. The lightings should be just right, and there should be windows so we do not feel stuffed. These are just some of the little details that hotels should always check and improve on.
Hotel service is also very important if they want us to keep coming back to them. Hospitality and warm greetings can raise the guests' spirits. Other services like housekeeping and food are also vital. As guests, we would want the best services. If the hotel staff is friendly and they do their jobs well, then there can be no complaints from us.
The last is accessibility. This goes both ways. We want a hotel that is visible and is a go-to place. We do not want to go through small alleys or long stretch of highways from the airport. Location is very important for a hotel. The hotel should also be a point of connection to the city's tourist spots or places of attraction. It should at least be in a part of the city where there are malls, restaurants, or shopping centers nearby. Another demand for a hotel today is the need for wireless access to the Internet. Many hotels already offer wireless service, but for a fee. It would be great if it were free instead.
Hotels and hotel chains adhere to business standards so we are assured that they will offer the best service they can give. But there will still be some improvements to be made, and we as guests will always find something lacking.
