"There are many different ways that you can improve the appearance, feel and value of your home. One option that many people are taking today is to install a new bay window or bow window in one or more rooms. These windows will add a great touch to your home and will instantly lend a classier appearance to the room itself and your entire house.
First of all, it's important that you understand the difference between bay windows and bow windows. Many people use the terms interchangeably however that's not entirely accurate. A bay window is a window that extends from your home and features three separate windows or window panels. A window extends at an angle on each side of the bay window and the middle window extends flat across between the two.
A bow window on the other hand can feature three, four or five different window panels or sections. Whereas the bay window takes on a very angular appearance and it projects from the home several feet, a bow window is going to look more curved in nature. Hence the name bow, as the curved design looks like the arch of an archery bow. The bow window will still extend out from the home, but typically will not extend as far.
On the interior of a home, a bay window is likely to have a large flat area or ledge that can be used as a shelf, or even as a seat. A bow window however may not have this feature, as it typically extends less far from the wall. Knowing these differences will help you make a better decision about what you're really looking for when you want to improve the look and feel of your home.
Whichever you end up choosing you will be adding a great feature to your home. One of the main desires of any homeowner is to make their home stand apart from all of the other homes in their neighborhood or town. This is important aesthetically as you want a house that looks good and makes you feel good. However it's also important in terms of the value that your home has on the market.
If two or more similar homes are all for sale in the same area, it's the small touches that will help one stand out from the others. New bay windows or bow windows that help you accomplish this, and will give you a leg up. This is especially important in economic climates such as we are experiencing now, when there are many homes for sale but few buyers in the market.
When you're looking for a way to improve the way your home looks and feels then it's time to get new bay or bow windows installed. Your home will have more value and will fare better on the market, and you'll love the new look and vibes. A new bay window or bow window will be a great investment for your family."
