Occupational clothing is an important purchase and one that needs to consider a handful of important factors. You want your employees to feel comfortable in their uniforms both physically and emotionally. You want to make sure the occupational clothing is durable and functional. As well, you want your uniforms to stand out and say something about your company.
What types of movements do your employees normally make? Do their jobs entail a wide range of movement or do they have more detailed type activity with smaller movements? Make sure they can move about in comfort no matter what the job. Overly flowing clothes can get in the way of some tasks whereas tight clothing may make it uncomfortable or even difficult to perform their duties.
You also want to make sure your average employee can look in the mirror when donning their attire and feel good about the way they look. Just because the occupational clothing looked fantastic on the skinny model, you don’t want to make a uniform purchase that will not look good on your average employee. Self-esteem is an important factor in any job, and performance will suffer if you choose occupational clothing that fits employees poorly or reveals too much.
Durability is a must! Occupational clothing that wears quickly will be costly one way or another. Your employees will be disappointed at having to spend part of their paycheck on their wardrobe if the uniform wears too quickly. If you foot the bill for the uniforms, either costs will go up when you try to keep up with replenishing worn clothing OR your sales will go down when your employees continually show up in shabby attire. Colour fading can also be a problem, so choose colourfast clothing and instruct your employees on the proper care (using the right detergent etc.).
One of the most important factors is the aesthetic value of your occupational clothing. You are choosing to have everyone dress the same so your clients and customers can pick out your team of employees. The clothing should be a reflection of what your company and your employees, have to offer the client or customer.
Bright colours say "fun" whereas blues and greens say "soothing." If you have a gym, you might choose bright colours. If you have a bed and breakfast, soothing uniforms may be in order. Blacks, reds and grays tend to say power and trustworthy. Black is also very modern, hip choice. Consider all black catering uniforms to exude a "we’re in the know" feeling.
Modern materials and up-to-date design can enhance your company’s occupational clothing. Find the right occupational clothing for your employees to improve business and boost morale!
