Introduction

Asus P526, manufactured by the Taiwanese electronic, has proved itself as a serious competitor in the market of pocket PC. The phone belongs to the above average range of Pocket PC market. It comes with an in built GPS receiver and can perform very well on Microsoft's latest version of its operating system, Windows Mobile 6 Professional.

Key Features

The Asus P526 comprises of a 2.6 inch display, capable of displaying the standard resolution of 240 x 320 pixels in 65536 colors. Like most of its contemporaries P526 also reflects in bright sunlight making it difficult for the user to see what is on display. Even the 2 megapixel camera is of the average kind. It includes a lot of settings which can be changed according to the kind of picture one wants to take. A video capturing mode is also included in the camera. It can take movies with sound in the format of MP4 or 3gp. The maximum video resolution available is 176 x 144, followed by a lower 128 x 96 resolution mode. There is no Wi-Fi to be found in this phone. Even the wireless internet connectivity binds itself to GPRS and EDGE. It does not also have an infrared port.

Design

When you look at the Asus P526 the prime thing to observe is that it feels like any other smartphone whether it is the looks or the number of keys. But the thing to notice over here is that with the size of 58 x 110 x 15.4 mm it is a very light weight phone, weighing only 115 g. But this does not make it any less; it has all the features which are to be acquired by a Pocket PC.

Entertainment Features

If you are a music freak then this phone is not made for you to use it in place of your MP3 player. This is because the Windows Media Player included in this phone does not have any equalizer or any other sound tuning feature. On the contrary, it has a 2.5 mm jack which can be used to connect one's own headsets.

Asus P526 is supported by a 1300 mAh Li ion battery. The battery might prove satisfactory with its talktime limit of 4 hours.

For storage, the phone offers 128 MB of Flash memory, with only 48 MB being in fact easily reached and this without any additional software installed. The good thing is that the memory can be extended by using microSD cards.

Conclusion

Overall the design, the capable GPS receiver, decent battery life and nice software additions are all in favor of the Asus P526.
