The moisture that builds up in the bathroom makes it damp and humid. It can be controlled with the help of a bathroom extractor fan. Also, every bathroom should have an extractor fan because it facilitates better ventilation inside the bathroom. There are two different types of bathroom extractor fans available in the market. They are: Propeller Fans and Centrifugal fans.
Propeller Bathroom Extractor Fans
Popularly known as axial fans, the propeller bathroom extractor fans are quite very similar to the regular fans used in homes. A similar kind of fan is also used in laptops to keep it cool. With the help of very small pressure the propeller fans moves in a circular movement and thus sends the damp air out of the bathroom.
Centrifugal Fans
Though the centrifugal bathroom extractor fans have a longer life expectancy and are much stable, yet they are less popular among the extractor fans. The fan, as per their name, uses centrifugal force to remove the damp air out of the bathroom via radial vanes in the plate. Because of their stability these fans are often used in palette fireplaces to remove smoke.
The extractor fan is a must in every bathroom as it prevents condensation and fowl odour thus keeps the bathroom hygienic, fresh and beautiful. Though these extractor fans are readily available in the market at much affordable prices, yet you should be aware of some basic facts about the bathroom extractor fans.
Going by the standards, the bathroom is divided into four different zones. If you are placing the fan in zone 0, 1 or 2, you have to install SELV or safety extra low voltage fan only. The mains voltage fans are installed in the zone 3 of the bathroom only.
You should be well aware of the noise level the extractor fan will be causing, before making your purchase. Some fans are really quiet.
If you are worried about those forgetful members of your family who often leave the fan on after using the bathroom, then go for the automatic bathroom extractor fans. These fans get switched on as soon the humidity in the bathroom touches a preset level and turn off after the bathroom gets dry.
So, if you do not have the extractor fan installed yet, go and get it done without any further delay!
