The slate floorings have returned with a bang. This type of flooring was earlier found at the entrance of buildings and was primarily famous for its high strength, durability and easy maintenance. However, things have changes a lot now. Now these beautiful floorings are available in some of the most wonderful designs. Moreover, these are also available in so many colors to choose from. Some of the colors of slates that you will find with stone suppliers are rust red, charcoal blacks, brown, blue and grey. You might also find them in various shapes. If these are not available in shape of your choice, you can easily cut them into different sizes and shapes.
Slate flooring is ideal for places where liquids are an important factor, for example kitchen. Owing to the structure which includes a mixture of fossils, sand grains, and crystals, it can easily prevent liquid from seeping through the floor surface. Moreover, thanks to its ability to resist stain and water, these can also be used in offices, homes and driveway.
Easy installation of slate flooring also gives them an edge. These natural stone floor tiles can be cut in any shape, size or thickness and can be installed in a way, which is similar to the ceramic tiles. You can install these in running pattern or in any other pattern depending upon the space available and size of the tiles. All you need a bit of wet cement, which will be applied to each tile. Once the cement dries up, you can apply grout for sealing the tiles. You can also go for a coating if you want a glossy finish to your flooring.
The slate flooring is not slippery as well. You can easily walk barefoot on these without being worried about getting slipped. Moreover, these are easy to maintain as well. You can use a dust mop with right cleaning agent to clear these floorings. You don’t have to clean them every day. Once in a week or thrice a month cleaning will keep these floorings fine. However, if you have flooring in areas like driveway or kitchen, you need to clean them daily. This would prevent any scratch on the flooring and also will ensure excellent appearance. Do use an entrance mat and take off your shoes after you enter your house to prevent any kind of grit.
With all these factors, slate floorings are definitely a perfect option for your home, office or driveway.
