When you decide to redo your home and you want to choose different flooring, how do you know what type of flooring is the best? Well, there are numerous flooring options and they are all great depending on your lifestyle and budget. When you begin searching for flooring you will find that you are drawn to the most popular choices.
First of all carpets are obvious. They are warm and cozy and you can get all kinds of piles so that if you have children or pets you can keep them pretty clean. You will also be drawn to tiles. Tiles are cool in summer, easy to clean and look modern. They are two of the most popular choices and as such both can easily be used in a home.
Another option when you are looking at flooring is to go for wooden floor boards. These are quite costly though and to get that old characterful look you will spend a lot of money. Before you decide on your flooring though, you should have a look at what is under your carpets. You might be surprised to find perfect wooden boards which can easily be sanded and re-varnished to look like new.
You can also go for parquet floors which are smooth and lend a warm atmosphere. These are also expensive though and are also quite a mission to lay. If you want to make your home modern and give it a wooden look without the wood, you can choose laminate flooring. You will have to choose carefully to avoid it looking cheap, but this kind of flooring will be best suited to entrance ways, kitchens and bathrooms where they get dirty the most.
There are many benefits to tiles, the first of which is that they are modern. They are also very easy to clean and are cool in summer. For winter you can easily throw down a large rug to keep it warmer or you can install underfloor heating. The benefits of carpeting include the warmth, especially in bedrooms, the softness if you have young children, and the cozy look.
When you choose flooring you will also look at the cons. For tiles this includes the cold, the hardness, the fact that they break and chip easily and that your items can be broken more easily if accidentally dropped.
For carpets it is that they are more prone to keeping bacteria and germs, they are not conducive to area like the kitchen and bathrooms where you have lots of dirt, liquid spills and moisture that will cause mold and other problems.
After you have looked at all the places in your home and you have decided to go for certain flooring or a few different ones, you can easily find great prices if you search online. Many places will give you discounts for a certain size, so make sure you have accurate measurements and also be aware of how many extra tiles you get in case of breakages.
