Undoubtedly, the beauty of hardwood flooring is unavoidable, but these days another type of flooring has emerged as one of the finest options giving it a tough competition and that is slate floor. This is catching up fast and it's not just about how good it looks, but it's a lot about how good it makes you feel at home. Slate is made from natural earth rocks and it is simply fabulous with all that exquisite work done by the artisans and the final finishing done by the machines. It is available in a variety of different styles to suit your home and it looks pretty impressive if installed in the proper way.
Now it is important that if you are looking for a slate floor, you know how to install it. One of the major concerns when installing slate floor is that if you do not do it properly, the slate could crack if anything heavy is placed on top of it. So you will have to take proper care while you choose a really good adhesive. You can get this adhesive from your local hardware store and they should be able to give you advice on which adhesive would suit best for slate floor installation. Or what you can do is ask the company itself from where have purchased the tiles ads they will have the best idea of what will work best with the tiles so that they stick firmly to the ground.
The other thing which is a matter of concern for people using Slate floor is its maintenance and cleaning procedure. Some people make the mistake of thinking it would be quite easy to clean as everything will simply just wipe away. But, it's actually not that easy. You need to realize that if you clean a slate floor with lots of water, it will absorb that water and that can cause problem at a later stage. Precisely for this reason it is important that you ensure that there is a waterproof resin on top of the floor which would prevent the floor to lose its original sheen. The good points to slate flooring are that it looks impressive and it is slip proof. Hardwood flooring on the other hand can be a hazard to walk on sometimes and if you are using it in the kitchen for example, it could be a health risk. So slate flooring can be safer to use in certain rooms.
