From a structural and external prospective, NTFS (New Technology File System) file system employs same methods to organize the files as FAT (File Allocation Table) file system. It is generally known as the directory or hierarchical tree model. The basis of directory structure is the home or root directory that is a major system metadata file of NTFS file system. The directory structure is required to quick and easy accessing of your valuable files from the Windows hard drive. However, in some cases, NTFS directory structure may get damaged and you come across serious partition loss situations. In such circumstances, you need to opt for Partition Recovery solutions to retrieve lost hard drive partitions.
In a practical scenario, an NTFS file system directory in which several files are created and deleted repeatedly finally gets damaged. Further attempts for accessing the files in directory or to delete or create files in same directory gives pop-up window that indicates NTFS directory corruption. It also instructs you to run the Chkdsk utility to try fixing this problem.
After this behavior of Microsoft Windows, all your hard drive partitions become inaccessible. In order to gain access of Windows partitions, you need to find out the cause of this problem and fix it through Windows Partition Recovery.
Root of the problem-
This problem may occur if multiple attributes are associated with the given file and they have similar attribute instance tag value. This issue only occurs with the directories in which several files are created and deleted repeatedly in an 'imbalanced' way.
Resolution-
In order to sort out this behavior, run Chkdsk /f utility. By running this tool, all files stored in the NTFS directory can be recovered. The Chkdsk utility is also able to detect if the instance counts are particularly large. It pro-actively renumbers the attribute instance values.
Though, Chkdsk works in several cases of hard drive problems, but can not handle severe file system directory corruption. In such situations, Partition Recovery Software come for your help to get lost hard drive partitions back.
The Partition Recovery applications are capable of thoroughly scanning the damaged Windows hard drive and retrieve all lost partitions from it. They come equipped with simple graphical user interface and thus let you perform data recovery on your own. The tools preserve integrity of your confidential data as they have read-only conduct.
