Continuous Feed Waste Disposers

Continuous feed waste food disposer is a very convenient type of device. You can turn it on and off using an electrical switch, placed on the wall. When the disposer is running it is important to keep the water running. Also, never touch your hands or utensils to the disposer any time, even when it is not running. You can also install air switch which you can handle with wet hands also.

Batch Feed Waste Food Disposers

This type of disposers are not commonly available and are expensive than continuous feed disposers. These disposers can be started by placing a sink stopper at its opening.

Almost all the waste food disposers use same type of technology. However, different models have different features and different power levels. A waste food disposer is installed between trap and drain installed under the sink. It can be easily installed and serviced.

Washed down the drain, food waste falls directly into the disposer. A high torque electric motor is present at the base of the disposer. The motor is insulated to avoid water contact and is also designed for quiet operation. There is turntable inside the disposer where waste food gets accumulated. A shredder ring surrounds the turntable to shred the waste. Shredder ring has sharp perforated walls. The turntable spins with high centrifugal force to let the waste pieces out of the shredder ring. Running water washes away the shredded pieces of waste food into the plumbing for safe passage.

A waste food disposer is very useful equipment for homes because generally waste food clogs the drains or it thrown otherwise into trash. It is a convenient and less smelly way to deal with waste food.
