Folding teak shower seats come in a couple of different styles, there is a one style that actually amounts to your wall and then there is the other style that folds up flat. I’m going to talk a little bit about both of these as they are the only styles that I have seen.
The first one is that Folding Teak Shower Seats that folds flat. The seeds are perfect for either the bath or the shower or perhaps a sauna or steam room. Anywhere really that there is going to be any type of moisture. They really not limited to that either as because of their sleek design when they’re folded up they can pretty much be taken anywhere.
You really have to tell you about the qualities of teak, but I’m going to anyway. When you buy a piece of teak furniture you can plan on getting about 75 years of life out of it if you take care of it. Essentially this makes a family heirloom. Over time the teak will lose its dark color, and fade to a nice gray patina, but this doesn’t have to be as you can apply a coat of teak oil to the wood a couple of times of year to preserve its natural color.
This style of folding teak shower seat is rated to hold up to around 225 pounds which isn’t a whole lot if you’re a really big person. But in normal circumstances they just right that as a safety rating when it fact it will hold more. The dimensions for the one that I found on Amazon it’s rather nice is 15 1/2 inches wide by 12 1/4 inches deep by 17 3/4 inches high. You can pick it up right now for a shockingly low $70 which is an outstanding price for something that’s going to last 70 years. Less than a dollar a year for a wonderful piece of furniture.
Folding Down Teak Shower Seat
The next style of folding teak shower seat itself was the one that mounted on the wall itself and folded down. The benefit to this is that you have a nice and safe place to sit while you’re inside of your shower, but the downside is that you can take it anywhere with you if you wanted to use it somewhere else.
This seat has a metal mounting bracket and attaches directly to the wall through studs I am assuming as is it doesn’t say. But the simple fact that it holds 350 pounds makes it pretty obvious that it attaches to something solid. They are rather nice-looking seats, but they only have three pieces a teak on them which makes it hard to justify in my eyes the price. But if you don’t care about the price and you like the fact that you can bolt it onto your wall and add some value to your bathroom then this folding teak shower seat is perfect for you.
There is another Folding Teak Shower Seats that I found on a fantastic website called teakworks4u. This teak shower bench that folds down from the wall is rather elegant looking as it stretches 30 inches across the wall and is 12 inches wide and folds down. Read more about Teak Shower Seats
