Know the source of the problem. This is the usual primary step that is taken in solving any problem even in the process of water removal. Know what and where the water is coming from. Be it busted pipes, lack of gutter or presence of cracks on walls; approach the source in the appropriate ways.
For busted pipes, either you buy necessary pipes and connect them yourself or hire a plumbing company to do it for you. For lack of gutters, buy enough gutters for your roof and make sure that it is long enough and that it will be able to lead water run offs in the right area. And lastly, for the cracks, makes sure to fill in these cracks- either be small of big. Future problems may appear if you would neglect these cracks. In case you have had the home flood, then you know that the wetness and the dampness are everywhere. Even when all of water is removed from home, interior humidity levels will spike & mold and viruses may grow. Almost each item in the home will have to get replaced, which came in the contact with water or which was near flooded area - and things like furniture, food, curtains, carpet, books, and many more.
