With all the things you can put on shelves you should have a shelve on every wall. You can put things such as curling irons, hair brushes, Bobbi pins, hair clips, rubber bands, toothbrushes, toothpaste and mouth wash. And that's just things in the bathroom. You can put shelves in your bedroom and put all your glass collectibles on them.
You can put shelves in you living room, kitchen, hallways and in your garage. They are so handy because they keep stuff up off the floor and at a more eye level convenience. Doing this is also making it easier on your back because if you have to bend down to pick something up or find something this is more strenuous on your back.
Shelves come in handy when you put them in your garage because you can make your garage appear larger just by storing things off the floor. It gives so much more room to walk around and in case you need more room then all the stuff on the shelves is up off the floor.
You can buy shelves at a hardware store or even a department store. You can also make your own shelves. All you have to do to make your own shelves is get a piece of wood that is as wide as you want the shelves to be and cut it to the length that you need it. You can get supports that you put the shelves on so that it doesn't break when you put heavier things on it.
You always want to make sure to put things on shelves that are light unless you have one that is reinforced. If you feel that there is a slightest give to the shelve when you put something on it then you should not have this item or items on it. Also you should never put shelves above where you sleep or above a changing table or baby crib. Doing so could result in injuries in case the shelves were to fall.
There are also a lot of other things that consist of shelves. There are bookshelves to store your books, or you can use it to put movies on. However, there are shelves made that hold movies such as DVDS and VHS tapes. You can also build shelves into a wall, but some people don't like to do it that way because then you cant rearrange the shelves where you want them if you ever want to.
You can also get shelves custom made by different people to fit in the places you want them to fit. If you build your own shelves you can always paint them and you don't have to use waterproof paint unless your going to leave them outside.
There is also shelves in Vans now that you can set things such as change or keys on. The way they keep the stuff from falling off the shelves is they put a lip at the end of the shelve. And another weird thing you can get is plastic shelves, but in my opinion they are not very sturdy and also plastic dry rots so there is a chance that they could just randomly fall down at any time.
