Even when I first started teaching the guitar lessons, it was easy to see that some of the students had an immediate ability to sing and play songs at the same time. While other guitar students just could not sing and play the guitar at the same time. In this article you will learn a few tips to help you in playing songs on your guitar.

Spend your time learning the guitar chords first. You will have a pretty difficult time trying to sing a song without first learning to change the guitar chords. To help you with your rhythm, using a metronome is a terrific idea.

Next try learning the song. Find somebody to help you learn the melody, if you do not already know it. A teacher can be very helpful here. Simple songs are certainly the best ones to start with. After you can master easier songs, then try songs with fuller chords and fancier guitar arrangements.
