Another Lottery Rags to Riches Story A Harlem New York Laborer who works at Madison Square Garden has won half of the $336 million Mega Millions lottery prize from the August 28 the drawing. A report in the New York Post said that James 'Jimmy' Groves told the paper he had won the jackpot which lottery officials told him was worth $168 million dollars. Groves has experienced some bad luck lately and said he was broke before he won the Mega Millions jackpot.

Groves, who said he recently defaulted on his Capital One credit card, is obviously pleased with his big win. Earlier this year Capital One had obtained a judgment for $4,000 against Groves. Said Groves," It feels great! I'm going to Disney World!" About his financial situation Groves had this to say, "I was down and out, and I didn't have a dime in my pocket. I asked for a lottery ticket, in 26 installment payments. And the next day, I won $166 million. Then the lottery people called me back and told me it was [actually] $168 million."

Groves, the father of two children has opted for yearly payments of $6.47 million before taxes. Groves is also experiencing the downside of sudden riches. He said that after telling family and friends he had won the Mega Millions jackpot he has been inundated with as many as 40 calls a day from friends, family and acquaintances asking for money. Groves stated, "It's hectic I wake up every morning, and everyone is on me like stink on s- - -."

Groves also feels his family may be in danger because of his big win. Groves stated, "Right now, I'm frustrated. I feel like my family is in a position of jeopardy, this is a dangerous neighborhood." Groves lives in a housing project known for violent crime. He plans to move his family and Garden officials say he has not been at work since his big win.
