It is a well known fact that not all men's suits are alike. Therefore, if you want to select a man's suit, it is necessary that you know what should you look for in a man’s suit. Even before deciding to buy the suits, you need to consider a few preliminary things like how often will you wear suits.
If you are required to wear suits quite frequently, then you should store more number of suits in the wardrobe. Having more men's suits will obviously provide you with the opportunity of keeping suits of different styles and colors. Whereas if you wear suits infrequently, then a few suits should suffice and it is proper to keep standard suits classic in designs and colors.
If you are wearing men's suits exclusively for attending evening functions, then it is better to opt for darker shades such as navy blue or charcoal gray. Light-colored suits are best avoided for late evening and night-time wear. If you however choose a pinstripe pattern, go for a color such as navy or charcoal and these are versatile and can be worn at any time of day or night.
The pants style has an important role to play in men’s suit. Flat-front pants will make you look trimmer and it is recommended for who are obese. Pants with pleats can make the pants look trendier and will give you a bit of a boyish look. Go for lined pants that fit well on your waist. When bordered, all pants must break at the laces of your shoes and strike just on top of your heel.
As regards jackets, please know that three button jackets are usually preferred as they present a classier look. Men who are slim can opt for two-button or double-breasted jacket. You should ensure that the jacket buttons pose no trouble whether you prefer to stand or to sit. You should also be sure that you that you can move your hands with ease and not feel uncomfortable when raising your arm.
It is necessary that the collars stretch out flat and show at least 1/2-inch edge of the shirt lapel. You should make sure that the shoulders do not look stuffed or boxy. The sleeves should touch the wrist bone and should, if at all, exceed very marginally. It has to be noted that the jacket is completely well lined without any wrinkling ridges.
Single-breasted suits are the standard style preferred by many regardless of their physical build. Usually there is a choice of two or three buttons for single-breasted men's suits. The front buttons on the suits are invariably in a single straight row. Double-breasted suits will certainly look much more stylish and formal but they are mostly worn by older men. The double-breasted jacket looks classy but obese men should scrupulously avoid wearing double breasted suits.
As regards fabric, it is preferable you select an all-season fabric such as wool. Though costlier, pure wool lasts longer and looks better than wool-polyester blends. Other all-season options that you can consider are twill, linen, and wool crepe. Polyester, rayon or a blend of the two are of course used in men's suits the world over.
Another alternative in fabric used in mens suits is cashmere - though this fabric is much softer, warmer and costlier. Many consider cashmere fabric as a luxury and reserved for the rich and the elite.
