Many people wish they could be good at music. There seems to only be a few people out there who stick with practicing an instrument and learn to play it well. Others struggle to strum out a decent melody and could never even dream of creating their own songs. These doubts and difficulties are what cause many beginners to just give up on learning to play a musical instrument.
But there is hope!
Keep reading this article and we'll show you how you can learn to play the most popular instrument in the world, and learn to play it well in no time flat with very little difficulty. We're talking, of course, about the guitar.
Many professional guitarists out there will tell you that their great talent comes from giving it their all with each and every performance. It was their patience and willpower that got them to where they are now, and this is a key component of learning any new skill.
If you still doubt that you could learn to play the guitar but still dream of guitar mastery what you need to do is adopt a positive attitude and jump right in. There's no time like the present!
The follows are the basic steps to learning how to play the guitar, make sure you remember them:
#1: Choose what kind of guitar you want to learn to play. Guitars come in two flavors: electric and acoustic. Acoustic guitars tend to be preferred for their warm, classic sound, but electric guitars are overall easier to play. Whatever you choose you need a guitar before you can learn how to play one. It wouldn't do any good to go to school without your textbooks, like anything else it requires the proper tools.
#2: You need the right reference material that can be easily on-hand when you need it. You may also want another person around to help with your instruction. If you're fortunate enough to have someone willing to help you out make sure they at least know something about guitar playing. Allow them to tune your guitar for you and teach you how to do it as well. They could also play some sample songs for you and comment on your progress.
However, if you decide to or have no other choice than to go it alone you can buy guitar manuals or access lessons on the internet, there are plenty of websites that will offer free guitar playing tutorials. You can even find websites that will walk you through guitar chords with step-by-step instructions.
#3: Memorize the basic chords of the guitar. And we don't mean just in your head, memorize them with your hands as well. There needs to be solid communication between your fingers and your brain as to how to execute a chord properly, this is a vital part of learning to play the guitar.
If you start to develop blisters on your fingers don't worry, the skin of your fingers will become callused overtime which means you'll be able to play easily without any pain.
#4: Always practice, and don't skip practices. You need to make it a part of your daily routine. If it helps carry your guitar around with you. Don't ever leave it lying around gathering dust. Hold it, play with it, strum it from time to time. Make your mind and body addicted to the feel and sound of the guitar. Keep your love of the guitar alive or else you're just going to end up leaving it to rot. Stay focused on your goals. There will always be an initial struggle when learning a new skill.
Unless you overcome the doubt and the lack of willpower you'll never fulfill the dream of guitar mastery.
