The Canon T2i is now a reality. You can purchase one today, no more waiting.

A lot of photographers are fired up about this new digital SLR. It was only a few months ago that Canon released the Canon 7D which appears to have been received by the photographic world with rave reviews.

But consider this. Camera forums are exploding with comments about these two new models. And notably that they may perhaps be interchangeable.

Is this likely?

There are a couple of motives for this discussion. First, both of those cameras share a similar image sensor size at 18 megapixels. Second is the video capability. Both can take 1080p HD video. So, with these two similarities, are they not identical?

The answer is a definite NO!

Although both are outstanding DSLRs, they are not identical. Wouldn't it be nice if they were, though? You could just obtain the Canon Rebel T2i vs the Canon 7D and help save 50% right off the top. That's $800 as opposed to $1600.

But they are not equal.

Here are several dissimilarities:

• First and most noticeable when you hold both cameras, you would observe a difference in the construction. The Canon 7D has a magnesium body with weather resistant seals, while the T2i is made with several metal parts, but not nearly as well built as its elder sibling.

• Second is the burst rate. Burst rate is the number of frames per second that can be recorded. It's 8.0 frames per second vs 3.7 frames per second. A clear win for the much more sophisticated older brother.

• Third is the control features. The 7D is much more robust when you evaluate the amount of control you have as a digital photographer. It is simply just more specialized than the newer camera.

So, while the Canon Rebel T2i is a ‚"fantastic digital camera‚", it is simply not a 7D. And Canon under no circumstances said it was.

The producer does, however, refer to the comparable movie mode. And each of these digital SLRs take amazing HD movie clips.

The important point here is this: If I were coming into the DLSR market today, I would certainly buy a Canon Rebel T2i. It is an amazing entry level DSLR at its present price.

If, on the other hand, I could get my hands on a Canon 7D instead of a T2i, there is no doubt I would take that opportunity at the drop of a hat.
