Outdoor living patio furniture has come a long way over the last 20 years. Although you can still buy the aluminum framed folding chairs with the plasticized or rubber strapping, there is a great deal more to choose from.
Wooden furnishings are among your choices. A variety of different woods are used to make the frames. The seating area may include aluminum springs or more durable metals. The price of the furnishings is often indicative of the quality.
Many of the designs are suitable for indoor use, but durable enough to withstand the elements. Generally speaking, the more durable the furnishing is, the higher the price will be.
Rattan and wicker are not as heavy and bulky as framed chairs, lounges and loveseats. They are also less durable. But, they are lighter weight, which is one reason that people like them. Being able to easily move the furnishings in or out, especially in the case of high winds or severe weather, is an advantage.
Adirondack chairs have become very popular lately. Although originally crafted from wood, the Adirondack "style" is now available in hard resins. These resins or plastics are sometimes hard to distinguish from the "real thing".
Adirondack chairs are made for lounging. They are not a basic requirement for outdoor living patio furniture, but they are nice to have by the pool or sauna. A table and chairs for dining on the deck or near the grill is a basic requirement that can be found at an outdoor living store.
You can choose the number of chairs according to the size of your family, as you would your indoor dining room table. The table should preferably be made of a shatter resistant material. This is not the place for a glass top, unless it is secure. But, that does not mean you have to settle for something unattractive.
An umbrella is a practical necessity for outdoor living patio furniture. Not only does it help to keep you, your family and your guests cool, it helps protect the table and chairs from sunlight. Sunlight fades and ages the material that these furnishings are made of. Since this could be a relatively large investment, you will want to protect it.
The grill is also essential. Cooking outdoors is a lot of fun, regardless of the weather. In the summer, cooking out allows the house to stay cooler. As a result, you save energy and money on your cooling bills.
Choose your outdoor living patio furniture according to your own tastes and enjoy!
