The next thing to be done is to check the structure of your site. Make sure that you have the right naming for the different pages in your site. Instead of : yoursite.com/page1.html it is better to use descriptive names for pages. If the page is about the products you offer it would be good if you structure them like this: yoursite.com/products.html, if it’s gonna be for all your products, of course. Don’t make the mistake though of structuring like this: yoursite.com/product1.html – if you’re offering a specific product on the page, just name it! Even if it’s rice you’re offering! So, better choose yoursite.com/rice.html. If you do that, I dare say that we are cooking!

After being sure that all of the things so far are done, you can carry on with creating a sitemap for your site or even two of them – one for the visitors and another one for the search engines which will explore your site. That’s how you will make their job easier and they will love you, basically. From a visitor’s point of view it is also good to have a sitemap as you can see the whole structure of the site on one page. If you prefer just to use it for the search engines, it’s a good idea to have a search field on your site. Anyway, if you don’t have that many pages of content and you show all the available information provided, it’s not a problem if you don’t have a search bar.

In conclusion, I will just advise you to do your best to keep your site as optimised as possible because Google, Yahoo!, Bing and the other major search engines will not bother to index pages (or not all of them) in a site that is not optimised well.
