Video Phone Review Update... What you See is What you Get
Video Phone review update could it be the emerging communications technology that many predict will revolutionize the way the world sees each other. Human Beings are a thinking species and we've always been innovators of different ways to do things. From hunting and gathering... to shelter... to traveling... to communicating, we've always come up with ways to do something quicker, easier, more efficiently or conveniently. As the new becomes common-place the transition period is often forgotten (tell anyone under the age of twenty five that you remember a time before everyone had a cell phone and watch the look of incredibility on her or his face) because what is now common-place just seems as if it's always been this way.
Let's explore the slow transition to the way we are starting to keep in contact covered in this video phone review update.
First the earliest low functioning models, video phones have captured the public's imagination. Amazingly the "video phone" was first conceptualized in the 1800s (no that's not a misprint). A couple of years after the telephone was patented, thoughts began to surface of a device where a person would be able to see the person they were talking with. No less an authority of the stature of Inventor Alexander Graham Bell said in effect that a day would come when a person using a telephone would be able to see the person that they were talking with.
Other great visionaries also predicted the common every day usage of visual communications. So in a way this video phone review was inevitable because Bell and others foresaw a day that this review would be necessary to let the public know about video phones as an option. By the way one of the displays at the 1964 Worlds fair was a video phone like device and service.
Some of you will remember a comic book and later a series of movies about a character named "Flash Gordon". The characters often used video communications to talk to friend and foe alike. Later, during the maturing of a comic strip named Dick Tracy, a two way wrist "TV" was introduced as a dynamic way for the police to stay in touch. OK, OK... remember Star Trek, Iron Man and many, many, other films that showcased video phone type conversations.
The point is that often movies are a preview of coming technology. A video phone update review would be remiss if homage wasn"t paid to the clues repeatedly presented through the media. I encourage you to keep watch as more and more references are made to video phone technology.
Everyday, video phones are being used by the auditorialy challenged community to sign messages to communicate within their communities and with the world at large. Imagine wide spread usage of visual phone communications increasing where-in virtually everyone has or has access to this technology. Usage giving them the ability to communicate with the same ease as others in society.
As the residential, business and cellular/mobile communities are all offering video phones, accessibility will further assist the integration of the hearing and speech impaired members of our society. I look forward to hearing from this segment of our population and getting their thoughts about how this technology has evolved over the years. In fact what will their video phone review entail?
There are video phones by different manufacturers being offered on the market right now to the public and to businesses.
The selection is growing and the performance is now at a level to rival HD quality transmission and reception.
- The first video phone offering we reviewed was almost four years ago.
- It had a four inch screen and the black and white analog video transmission was serviceable at best.
- It was an exciting and some-what practical device but really no more than a novelty.
About a year later we reviewed the next generation video phone and the improvement were significant.
- Color viewing on a 5.6 inch screen with built in features such as a phonebook, organizer and a phone jack.
- A person could now transfer their existing phone number to this video phone.
- They could plug in a cordless phone base unit and enable all of the phones in the house or office.
This was a significant modification because it took the
