Hawa Mahal
Each wall of the palace reinforces the idea that 'dreams truly can come true'; built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap is one of the major landmarks of Jaipur. The palace is shaped like a pyramid and is a five-storied building, with number of small windows and screens.
It is believed that the structure was meant to be a window for the royal ladies to view the activities on the street. The Hawa Mahal is a great example of the Rajputana architecture, which was strongly influenced by Mughal style of architecture
City Palace
The City Palace built by Maharaja Jai Singh II is an architectural marvel that presents a perfect blend of Rajasthani and Mughal art and architecture. The City Palace has projecting balconies, arches and the entrances and also has a museum with an exclusive collection of Rajasthani costumes, miniature paintings, carpets and royal paraphernalia.
The city palace stands as a symbol of the royal elegance and courtly splendor that is no longer visible.
Amber Fort
The Amber Fort which stands on a small hillock is one of the famous Rajasthan fort-palace. The breathtakingly beautiful complex of the Amber Fort comprises of palaces, halls, pavilions, gardens and temples. The fort built with white marble and red sandstone look even more attractive because of the Maota Lake in the foreground.
The tourists to this fort can either approach the fort by road or take an elephant ride, which though is quite slow yet is a lot of fun.
Jantar Mantar
Across the road from the palaces is the famous JANTAR MANTAR one of the five observatories in India. Built by Sawai Jai Singh, this is one of the largest and the best preserved.
Albert Hall
Designed in the Indo Sarcenic style of architecture by Sir Swinton Jacob, the Albert Hall presents an exquisite collection of decorative wares, sculptures, paintings, natural history specimen and Egyptian mummy and the celebrated Persian carpet.
Jaigarh Fort
the Jaigarh fort is the most spectacular of the three-hilltop forts that overlook city and the Amber Fort. Perched high on a cliff, it is surrounded by huge battlements with inside walkways. Jaivan, the world's largest canon on wheel is also found here.
There are a number of other tourist attractions in Jaipur that include, Nahargarh Fort, Govind Deoji Mandir, Rambagh Palace, Govind Devji Temple, Kanak Valley, Ram Niwas Bagh and Laxmi Naryan Temple.
