TIG Welding techniques is one of the most useful techniques while you take in welding copper, titanium, two different metals as well as the best choice for tough welds in curves or any totally round bends. Here is a simple yet effective step by step procedure of carrying out a good TIG Welding.
The first step you need to take is by choosing the right Electrode and this is in fact an important step and decides the finish of your weld. A TIG machine must have a good electrode in to before now but then you might have to take a pure tungsten electrode when you choose to weld any aluminum stuff. Same way, you can pick a good tungsten alloy from a vast variety of them that goes very well for welding a selective alloy metal stuffs. The biggest plus point of, the thoriated tungsten, one of the best quality electrode of the tungsten ally electrodes is that it is radioactive.
The second step is about grinding the Electrode. When you get to handle a new rod which is a cylindrical and has not got a proper pointed or rounded tip so far, then you will have to grind the electrode to a point. The point to be noted here is that the tip will turn rounded because of the heat as you carry out the welding process. It’s is advisable to keep in mind that a balled tip is a wise choice for a AC welding, while a pointed tip is a good choice for a DC weld.
The third step is to slot in and fix the electrode into the collet. You can simply loosen the backside of the electrode holder then fix the rod and replace it there again. Just make sure that the tip of the electrode is about 1/4" away from protective sheath.
The fourth step is by choosing the settings that you need for carrying out the welding. In any usual TIG rig you can find three main electricity options which are AC, DCEP, and DCEN.
The next step is turning on the gas. If you are going to weld something made up of aluminum then you need to use Argon for best results. You can opt for argon or carbon dioxide for steel.
Then you need to see if everything is set for a welding table. You might need a big metallic area to allow electricity run through the metal. If you don’t have a professional welding table, then you can go for a big flat sheet of metal.
The next step is very important for you. Yes, dress yourself up like a professional welder or TIG will give awful sunburns to the skin and can even make a person go blind. Use good leather gloves closed shoes and a good helmet in which you can be comfortable in.
Then next thing that you will be doing is to start your welding. Keep the electrode about an inch away from the metal and do not touch the metal with the electrode. Supposing if you mistakenly touch the metal with the electrode the molten aluminum will jump onto the electrode. Suppose if this happens you have to stop the machine take out the electrode, grind it and then use it carefully the next time. Remember about the pace you need to maintain between the electrode and the metal always. Then all you have to do is to draw abed by jamming down the pedal quick from a weld pool.
