Downfall of the Muslims has led to the downfall of the entire religion Islam, and unless the Muslims don’t rise as one entity, the whole religion of Islam will remain disgraceful in the eyes of those 80% Non-Muslims in the world. If we trace down the lines of history, we’ll realize that there is a continuous trend of downfall among the Muslims, be it their social image or political position in the world. What may be the cause of such demise of the most powerful community of Muslims? Read along and probe the major causes:

Turning Away From The Quran

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) says: "O people! I am leaving with you the Book of Allah and my household (itra), my family (my Ahl al¬Bayt). As long as you uphold them, you shall never go astray." (Kanzul¬Ummal, Vol. 1, page 44)

The main reason why Muslims fell head-downwards is due to the fact they left Quran and its teaching far behind. Ever wonder why Muslims were once the leading rulers of the world? Why they conquered every big power so easily? It’s only because they retained the teaching of the Holy Quranand obeyed it endlessly.

Lack of Unity

"The Momenoon are but a single Brotherhood." (The Holy Qur’an, 49:10)

Another visible reason that made it hard for Muslims to keep their status upright is the division among the Muslim community in sects and races. We seldom hear a Muslim saying "I’m a Muslim, the worshipper of one God and believer of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)" all we hear is "I’m a sunni/Shia". The whole Muslim history is filled with such examples where the non-believers alone couldn’t defeat the Muslims, but their own internal discords were the main reason of their defeat.

The Muslims of today are living in conflict, dispersion and sectarianism – yet the non-believers are out there to wipe the Muslims from the face of this world. First, they destroyed Afghanistan, and now they’ve unfolded their evil plans to deteriorate Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Yemen and Pakistan. It’s time we stop acting like silent spectators and stand united as one. Unless we don’t maintain the bonds of faith and brotherhood, we’ll never be able to regain our lost glory. All the Muslims (Shia or Sunni) need to overcome their differences and discover their similarities, showing the enemies that "united we stand, divided we fall".

Lack of Education and Knowledge

Quran (Surah 96: 1-5): "Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), has created man from something that clings. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, Who has taught (the writing) by the pen, has taught man that which he knew not."

This specific Ayyah demonstrates the first ever revelation upon the great Prophet (PBUH), which shows how important it is to learn and educte oneself.

The biggest problem is that Muslims are not educated or even inclined towards receiving and probing for truth and knowledge. There was an era when Muslims were knowledgeable and most inventions were made by them, but later Americans and Europeans invaded those inventions and made them their own. The Muslim scholars who were once renowned in the world of astronomy, medicine, physics, chemistry, mathematics, etc started losing their ground since the time they stopped educating further and didn’t bother protesting when their findings were taken away by others.

The only education our children receive today is from the Western media, continuously breeding their fresh minds towards sin and wrong beliefs. Why have we all fallen victim to this whole "mind control through media" propaganda? And how can we overcome this weakness? The answer to both these questions would be, "education and only education".

If we hold fast to The Quran, stand united & unified, keep our minds open to receive and explore for positive knowledge – the day is not far when all Muslims and Islam will prevail and prosper Insha’Allah. We have to follow Islam in the real sense, which teaches us patience, love and unity.
