It takes a great deal of dedication to reach the status as one of the great bands. In fact, great bands come seldom. Every decade, you are lucky to find one great band.In the 60’s when the whole band scene took off, the Beatles dominated. Now they may even be in the consideration for the best band ever. In the 70s the Beatles broke up and soon enough there was a new band willing to take their crown. The Rolling Stones was eager to be the next best band and soon enough they were cemented as one of the greats and perhaps the greatest in that decade. The 80’s came and bands were no longer as popular as it was in the previous two decades. However, there is no denying that this era has produced a band that will remain in people’s hearts forever and this band is U2. U2 is one of the most influential bands of all time and the 80s was the decade where they really shined.
When we talk about the 1990s, the only thing a band fan remembers is the era of grunge. The grunge era is known for two bands that are in contention to be the greatest of the decade, Nirvana and Pearl Jam. We would have to wait a few more years to find out which band will be remembered as the master of the decade. These bands may seem like they are very different from each other but in truth they share commonalities that go past their obvious differences. These similarities are the ones that make these bands the great bands that they are.
All of these bands have the talent to back up claims of their greatness and this is one of the things that make them similar to each other. The music speaks for itself and it can be heard in the music that they play. They produce music that is better than what anyone else produces in the same decade.
Having talent is essential but it does not make or break a band. Desire to be really great also plays a big part. A great band must have the desire to push through and reach new heights. The great bands of the past decades did not reach the heights that they have gotten just because their songs were better. The real reason they reached the levels of greatness that they are in is through sheer desire to be the best band to ever walk the planet.None of these bands would have been great if not for the people that follow them. Imagine the Beatles; they were huge because of the legion of girls that followed their every move. The Rolling Stones had groupies and continue to have them in all of their tours.
In order to reach the same heights these bands were able to reach, it is important to work harder than any of the other bands out there. Do not waste the talent that you have. Talent is important but there is only one way you can capitalize on all this talent and it is to practice more than any other person can.
One thing that other people can help with when it comes to your road t success is with the followers. The use of social networking sites like MySpace can help launch your band to super stardom. Try this new road to success and you will ask yourself why you haven’t done this before.
