Someone once said that if your Bible was falling apart, your life is not.

That's sound advice. The Bible is one of the many tools that God gives us to not only survive in this world but to prosper. Unlike a lot of other holy books from other religions, the Bible is a message of hope. It contains plenty of scripture to give us reason to live happy and abundant lives.

If you're not reading it on a daily basis, then you're missing out. Not only that, but by reading your Bible on a daily basis, you can learn what God's word really has to say on just about everything.

We even have the tools (weapons) we need to protect ourselves:

Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Paul tells us in Ephesians the weapons we have to protect us from Satan:

Eph 6:14 Truth to gird your loins; breastplace of righteousness

Eph 6:15 Shoes - gospel of peace

Eph 6:16 Shield of faith

Eph 6:17 Helmet of salvation, Sword of the Spirit (word of God)

Eph 6:18 Prayer

With these tools, you can defeat anything that Satan throws at you.

So, to get started, you need to start reading your Bible. There are several ways that you can read the Bible that are easy, and these techniques will help you.

First, you can start at the beginning. If you read three chapters a day and then five on Sunday, you can read the Bible start to finish in one year. This should only take you about 10 - 15 minutes a day.

I do it first thing in the morning. It's a great way to start your day.

You can also use a daily devotional of some kind. Sites like RBC.net offer you a daily devotional that not only gives you a devotional and scripture passage each day, but you also get the Bible in a Year.

You can also choose to skip around with Scripture. This is important if you are looking for a way to really change your life in a meaningful way. (You can always go back and reread the whole Bible later).

You can actually read whole books at one sitting. Here are several books that will help you in finding the joyful and abundant life Christ talked about. Read each book, one at a time, every day for seven days. By doing this, you'll embed the message into your long term memory. Read it before bedtime, and it will make you sleep better.

1 John - If you want to know if you're really going to heaven and that you're saved, this five chapter book will tell you. Written by John, one of Jesus's disciples.

2 Peter - This is a short discourse on living the Christian life. Written by Peter, one of Jesus's disciples.

James - If your Christian walk isn't what it should be, it will be after reading and applying this book. James doesn't cut any corners here. He tells it like it is, and it's easy to be offended after reading this book. However, if you follow what James says, it will change your life. Written by James, Jesus's brother.

Phillipians - This is one of my favorites. Paul really reveals the glory of Jesus in these passages, and he shows you how to eliminate fear and worry from your life.

There are many others. The Bible is full of wisdom that's as relevant today as it was when it was written.

If you really want to change your life, and change it for good, then read the Bible, and apply it to your life.
