The ASP surfing tour goes all over the world having events at all the best surfing spots across the world from Australia to Hawaii. Different legs of the tour are sponsored by different top surfing companies including Quiksilver and Billabong.
Gold Coast, Queensland- Australia –Event Quiksilver Pro
Australia and surfing are 2 words that you often see together, surfing seems to embody the way of life, the ASP surfing tour stops off here every year to make the most of the fantastic waves and to soak up some of that relaxed Aussie vibe. This leg of the tour is sponsored by Quiksilver,
Bells Beach, Victoria –Australia - Event Rip Curl Pro
On the Southern Coast of Australia this spot is an excellent place to take in the surf competition the weather is idealperfect for the tourist. The event takes place in and around Torquay, Victoria which is a town of significant residential areas built up over the last 50 years.
Santa Catarina, Brazil – Santa Catarina Pro
The competition will be held at the beach of Florianopolis which is believed to have the most consistent waves in the region and therefore is a brilliant place to hold the competition, this event is sure to draw in massive crowds and a good party.
Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa –Event Billabong Pro
South Africa has long been a destination of choice for surfers across the world, the great weather and surf has meant that people will travel from all over just to surf this spot. The Billabong Pro ASP World Tour is held at Jeffrey’s Bay every July and is a huge worldwide event.
Teahupoo,Taiarapu-Tahiti – Event Billabong Pro Teahupoo
The event takes place in Teahupoo and the waves are formed by a reef which the surfers drop in over. The reef is off the south-west of Tahiti, it has produced some of the biggest waves in the world and the record for biggest wave ever ridden took place there.
Trestles,California-USA – Event Hurley Pro
California has a huge history of surfing and it would be wrong to have a surfing tour without at least one stop there. The event is held in the Lower Trestles part of these great surfing spots because of the most consistent waves, the event draws huge crowds and encourages tourism in this area.
South West Coast-France –Event Quiksilver Pro France
Ahh the first of two surfing events in Europe, this event takes place on the west coast of France, it has good waves and attracts huge crowds of spectators.
Peniche-Portugal – Event Rip Curl Pro
Elected to be included in the 2009 ASP tour by the surfing community this is a new beach for the surfers to get to grips with. The waves reach towering heights and challenge the surfers nerve as much as their skills, making this a spectacular event to watch.
Puerto Rico – Event Rip Curl Search
This event is part of the Rip Curl search that aims to find different locations every year to challenge the surfers abilities to adapt. Of course many of the pro surfers will have surfed pretty much all the top beaches in the world but anything can happen on event day.
Banzai Pipeline,Oahu-Hawaii – Event Billabong Pipe Masters
It would not be a surfing world tour without an event in Hawaii and what an event, the pipe master really sorts the weak from the strong. This competition involves dropping into some of the biggest waves in the world and surfing through the pipe and staying on your board becomes all the more important because of the unforgiving reef beneath the waves. The final and most prestigious event of the ASP Tour is always well attended and is a true spectacle.
