Summer vacations are coming up and we all want to look our best and this usually encompasses more than just a new hair cut! Everyone wants to look good in their swimwear and that means having confidence, which everyone should have with their own body. If you want to push it and feel a bit better by shaping up then there are some very simple rules to observe, the only real way to drop weight is to eat a healthy balanced diet and to increase your exercise levels, there is no point in going overboard on a fad diet because the minute you start to eat normally again the weight will just go straight back on again.
This is not just because you are eating more than you were before, if you starve your body of essential nutrients it goes into starvation mode so when you start eating them again your body keeps onto them. This should make you think what have I done that my body would freak out and desperately hang onto something.
A Balancing Act
So with this in mind, the first thing to think about is diet. A healthy balanced diets includes members of all food types in different amounts, despite what the media would have you believe there is no wrong group that you should cut out all together even fats are important for normal body function. What you need to become aware of is how much of each group you should be eating, fruit and vegetables should take up the biggest part of your diet followed by carbohydrates, protein and finally fats and dairy. Eating a combination of these foods everyday will not only help you loose weight but it will improve your immune system and improve your general health.
Get Those Pulses Racing
So from this we can say a healthy well balanced diet is the starting point for the trimmer healthier you. So onto burning the calories off, a little exercise often is the best way to ease yourself into a new routine. Going to the gym for 2 hours and then not being able to walk for 2 days is not going to encourage you to continue with your routine. You should choose a form of exercise that you enjoy and you are therefore more likely to stick with it.
If you would rather not exercise in a room full of strangers because you feel too self conscious then a piece of home gym equipment would be great. Home gym equipment is available in a huge amount of price ranges so whether you are looking for a starter piece of equipment or a top of the range model there will be something for you. In order to loose weight you have to raise your heart beat and get you blood pumping, the best way to efficiently do this is to invest in some cardio vascular equipment. The piece of equipment that most people are familiar with are treadmills, they are a great piece of equipment because they can be used for all levels from power walking to running which means you can vary the workout intensity depending upon your mood that day.
Treadmills can also be easily hidden away which means that they don’t have to take up the entire house, this is particularly handy if you don’t have the space for a permanent gym. These treadmills are easy to pack up and put down so there are no excuses for using it once and then packing it up for months. The ideal starter treadmill is the Reebok irun treadmill, it has 5 fitness routines to get you started and it can be simply folded up and wheeled to the side of a room to create some space.
Other fitness equipment that will get your heart rate going are cross trainers, exercise bikes and rowing machines but these tend to require a more honed technique which can be daunting for the beginner. The rowing machine can be particularly difficult because if you are doing it incorrectly you can actually do yourself some damage rather than good.
What are you waiting for get that healthy food in and start an exercise routine this week and give yourself the confidence to wear that beachwear this summer!
Shape up for the summer with a Pro-Form 780 ZLT treadmill. Treadmills are a great way to get fit at your own pace.
