There are several tourist destinations all over the globe but India is the country that has an outstanding presence due to many reasons. The culture, hospitality, colors, people, cuisine and of course the variety of destinations makes India a wonderful place to visit. The ministry of tourism, together with the tour operators and other allied industries has tried its best to give full satisfaction and enjoyment to the tourists that come to India. It is best to visit India in order to know what it is like for one may fall short of words to describe this exotic tourist paradise.
There are several tour themes available to choose from in order to explore India with a specific aim. One may wish to go for a desert safari in Rajasthan or would love to go to the bird and wildlife sanctuaries spread all over the land with their special interests to shoot the animals with their cameras or to experience the closeness of wonders of nature. India has something to offer to each of its tourists so that they get the best out of their investment on their tour. The Himalayan journeys are also very interesting and so are the visits to the eastern and western shores. The backwaters of Kerala entice many tourists and so do the palaces and forts of the rulers of various ex-princely states of pre independence India. Just name a tour possibility and there is a way to reach there and come back with lots of fun and frolic.
Many tourists prefer to visit the Buddhist shrines and monasteries in the Himalayas as well as Bodhgaya and Sanchi. The growing interest in Buddhism among the people of the western world is one of the reasons behind such pilgrimages. Tourists also appreciate visiting the Hindu religious places like Badrinath, Kedarnath and the rest of the twelve jyotirlingas present in India. There are several Jain temples and shrines also in India. Sammedshikhar, Dilwara, Ranakpur are to name a few in this category.
The seven sister states of northeastern India have always attracted tourists and there are several places full of natural beauty and of course wildlife in this zone. Shillong, Gangtok, Kaziranga etc. are located in this part of India. The Konark and Lingaraj temples of Orissa mesmerize many tourists and so do the Raths of Mahabalipuram down south in Tamilnadu. One wonders, how could they have built such gigantic structures? The temple complexes of southern India are magnificent examples of planning and civil engineering of ancient India. Ooty in Tamilnadu, Coorg in Karnataka, Mount Abu in Rajasthana and Darjeeling in west Bengal are wonderful destinations that will take you in an entirely different world. The lakes of Rajasthan are worth seeing and so are the natural hot water springs of Gujrat and Himachal Pradesh.
