Vitamins play an important role in the health and wellness of our minds, bodies, and even skin. The better health and nutrition we consume the better overall appearance of our skin. Vitamins are no exception. They can be ingested internally as well as applied as lotions and creams to provide a healthy, youthful glow to a person’s skin. But which vitamins are good for the skin?
Vitamins C and E are wonderful for the skin. Vitamin C has been proven to help protect the skin from sun exposure. This can reduce the effects and chance of getting skin cancers. It also promotes the production of collagen, which helps maintain a youthful appearance. Vitamin E also helps protect harmful Ultraviolet rays that can damage skin cells. Vitamin E also makes skin soft and subtle and helps moisturize dry skin. Vitamin C and E both come in the forms of creams and lotions, but you can also get them from dietary intake such as citrus fruit, leafy greens, nuts, seeds, olives, and bell peppers, to name a few.
Vitamin A is also good for the skin. A diet rich in vitamin A will reduce wrinkles and prevent dry skin. This vitamin is important in the production and maintenance of skin cells and without it, your skin will show the deficiency. Fruits contain plenty of vitamin A, so be sure to consume plenty every day. To top it off, recent studies have shown that when individuals consume plenty of Vitamin A, they can reduce the effects of psoriases.
Everyone knows that the B Vitamins are good for you, but do you know which vitamins are good for the skin? Niacin and biotin are the two top B vitamins for skin care. A lack of biotin can cause hair loss and itchy skin, but rest assured you can get the proper amounts just by eating bananas, eggs, rice, and other foods. Niacin helps skin retain moisture and improves skin tone. Using these lotions can provide shiny, healthy looking skin with quick results.
Vitamin K is another one that is great for the skin when applied in a lotion or cream. This vitamin reduces the look of red puffy under eyes as well as bruises. It works even better when combined with Vitamin A. To drastically improve the appearance of dark circles around the eyes, combine Vitamin C, E, A, B, and K for better results.
As you can see, many of the same vitamins that are good for our bodies are also good for our skin. A lack of any of these vital nutrients can cause dry, scaly, itchy skin or even hair loss. To keep skin moisturized and healthy looking, make sure that you are receiving adequate amounts of these vitamins through a proper diet. And then look for creams or lotions that contain these vitamins. Now you know what vitamins are good for the skin.
