Of course, you know that, but would you know exactly how your logo does all that for you? There are two major things here:
The first thing is that your logo is the one that sets you apart from other businesses in the same industry. It makes you one of a kind. The customers will know if a specific product is yours just by looking at the logo. For example, a cellphone manufacturer would always make sure that he creates not just any cellphone but something that is specifically unique from other cellphones in the market. Without a logo, you can't expect everyone who uses that cellphone to remember which one it is, especially when you consider the wide range of cellphone makers and features in the market today. But with your brand, people know immediately that it's your product because they found a name or logo to remember it by. In other words, one way of setting up your product and your brand is through your logo.
Second, this logo can be your most effective advertising tool, especially so when you have been in business for a long time and people don't really need to hear more when they see that emblem of yours. Once their eyes land on that image or text, they immediately know it's you and what you can do for them. A simple company sticker on a bus is very cheap advertisement but it can go a long way. What you'll do is to inform your customers that you are around. Showing them your design will make them think that they need what you are selling. Your logo should be enough to draw in attention which can be converted to actual sale unless you are coming out with a new product that you have to present it to the public.
