The first rule of getting a book published is to avoid writing a book! Yes, this is a very common statement going around on the Internet. The reason to it, is because the traditional side of the business wants you "the author", to think that the only way to get a book published is through a literary agent. Well, this is our opinion, getting a great literary agent is as hard as getting published with one of the traditional publishing houses. The industry is changing and things are much easier now for book authors. An author has many opportunities with the non-traditional publishers. Although the process of getting chosen, will have similar criteria as the traditional publishers, your chances of getting published will increase. The non-traditional publishers still looks for quality in each manuscript they receive and evaluates each one of them very carefully.
At a non-traditional publisher we are doing things different, when it comes to working with new authors. We are interested in working with authors that write about business, motivational, self-help, new age and spirituality. As mentioned earlier, working with traditional publishers, your manuscript may be left without ever getting the proper evaluation or feedback, we believe that working together with an author is our biggest asset and we treasure it. The goal is to provide the author with additional support when it comes to marketing the book and the author. We don't have the luxury to leave an author to make it or break it, meaning, as the traditional publishers do, they tend to work on a numbers game strategy and approach to their business. Meaning, if they are working with 300 authors, they only need to sell an average of one thousand books annually per author, in order to maintain their expenses and revenue to a profit level. This is why we believe the author ends up getting hurt when dealing with a traditional publisher and does not get the proper attention from these mentioned publishers, unless they are a big selling "name author". At these times, authors have many avenues to choose from, whether that may be a traditional or non-traditional publisher, the opportunities are there to be approached.
