Moving Companies vs Your Mates on Moving Day

Moving companies are the one business most people assume is entirely optional when it comes to house removals. Instead of shelling out for the cost of professional movers, a significant number of people opt for calling up a few of their mates and getting them to help with their removal in exchange for a few pints and, perhaps, some take-out. However, there are certain instances when getting moving quotes and looking into hiring a first class mover will make a tremendous difference in your removal experience – overseas removals is just such an instance. International movers are specialised in helping people relocate overseas and their expertise and know-how will mean a world of difference to anyone faced with such a big move.
Although it might be tempting to try and organise an overseas removal by yourself, just remember that there are hundreds of little details that must be taken care of on time if you want your removal to be a success. While it is always possible to research what you need to know when it comes to duties, taxes, trade tariffs and other issues common to overseas removals, the research will take time and you might not be prepared to invest that amount of energy into something that can easily be done by hiring competent international movers.
The same kind of thinking holds true for any kind of house removal. Whether you have a vast collection of fine paintings that need to be moved or you only have a couple of boxes, a bed and a sofa, the logistics remain essentially the same – you need a truck and people to help move the larger items. However, while the latter move might not need the expertise of moving professionals, having the right movers on the job for the paintings might be a very good idea. So too with your own removal – if you have to move the contents of an entire house, then having a good moving service firm on your side can make a huge difference.
Hiring your mates might save you money, but it will likely take you all day to move. Furthermore, if someone drops anything and it breaks, you will have no recourse for compensation. Also, with friends you cannot ask them to then help you unpack and set up your home after you have managed to move everything in. Moving companies, on the other hand, will even help you pack your belongings if you need the extra assistance. They will move your belongings and they will help you to unpack and set up in your new place. Moving companies have made it so that you can tailor your contract to include only those services you want; plus, you are fully covered by the moving company’s insurance in case of loss or damage to your belongings in transit. Lastly, moving companies will be able to complete your removal in less than half the time it would take non-professionals to do the same work.
Moving companies can be expensive and clearly not everyone can fit them into their moving budgets. However, if you have the choice and think that saving money will be a better idea – think again. What you save in money, you just might expend doubly in wasted time and energy.
