CATS buses. No. They definitely will not meow or scratch. But instead, what they will do will surprise you - and even put a smile on your face. Yes, these are CATS buses and they are going to be making rounds in Mooresville. Oh Mooresville residents are definitely going to be happy about this.

These buses are going to stay for another six months or maybe even more. And that should be something that Mooresville residents should be thankful for. There was supposed to be a rift and a decision has been made. These buses are going to stay. What happened was that the officials had to vote. Three won over the two who wanted the service to stop. The three wanted it to continue and it still will.

CATS buses run from Mooresville to Charlotte. Its schedule to take on the road is from Monday up until Friday. These buses take a break on the weekends. And just in case you do not know, CATS actually is an acronym and it stands for Charlotte Area Transportation System.

The thing is, the officials of Mooresville had to decide about the fate of these because the operation does help the residents but it can also be quite heavy on the city’s pocket. See, the whole system cost them $25,207. Now that is a huge amount of money but if it is going to help improve the quality of life of the residents and help the city as well, then it is a worthy investment.

When asked, those who gave an approval to keep the buses running had good reasons. According to them, this mode of transportation should continue as it is going to help people save on money. See, the price of fuel is definitely going up. With that, people who have cars would rather take the bus and commute than spend their money on fuel.

On the other hand, there are those who were not in approval of having the buses continue to make their rounds. Chris Carney is one of those and he is currently a commissioner. He said that that if the bus route is stopped, the money that would be used to maintain the buses which is $19,000 could actually help the town in other ways. He also has a point in this but as luck would have it, there were only two of them who has said no and three joined forces to let it continue.

Now during that meeting, if the result was a disapproval, then Mooresville would be making it to a list of towns which has said no to the service route. The city would be the second in line. The first was Lincoln County.
