Cuba is the place where Gloria Estefan hails from. For those who have no idea who she is, Estefan is actually a popular singer and is also an artist. And news have it that she is going to be opening her doors to the president of the United States of America, Barack Obama.

The singer has a home in Miami Beach and that is said to be the place which Obama will be visiting. Estefan is a very popular singer and in Miami, she is quite an icon there. After all, it is a place where you can find a good amount of the culture of those with American-Cuban origins.

Aside from being an icon, Estefan also is a person who shows that she is proud of where she is from. She has brought to the attention of most people Cuban culture through her songs and her music. She also is into art and is also an active participant in community affairs. People really do appreciate her music and that is what makes her stand out.

There were some speculations though when Estefan had become the host of an event which was held right in her own home. This was because the event had President Obama there in Miami Beach. It was a fundraising event and each couple had to pay a hefty sum to be part of the whole deal. It was organized by the country’s Democratic Party.

Now such has become an issue as Miami is a place that is known to be where a lot of those who live there are American-Cubans. Now with that said, this part of the population is usually a group of supporters of the Republic Party and are not for the Democrats.

Icon as she is of her culture and of her background, the people who are in the community have become upset with what has happened. The head of the committee of Cuban Liberty in the place has already said his piece and he said that it was a shock for them to know that Estefan has welcomed the president in her own home. Now that may be something but having the president in your home is definitely a huge honor.

However, that is not all. What they are totally against was the fundraising part of the whole deal. A fundraising is a good thing but a fundraising for a party that you are not part of is what they were against. Now it seems like the Estefan couple may not be taking sides but that can be quite a bad thing especially when it comes to politics.

Such a thing can be a difficult issue especially to those who are involved.
