The Obama family spent a great vacation in Ashville, North Carolina. The neighborhoods and the people there welcomed them with open arms - and with Obama themed posters, signages, paraphernalias, streamers and other forms of welcoming them to the place. The people surely went out of their way to show Obama that they are proud to have their place visited by the President of their country. And this sure was very evident as the whole placed seemed to be all about Obama.
A relatively quiet and conservative community, the people of Ashville is just so excited to have the First Family spending a normal, American vacation in their place. The First Family even brought along the First Dog, Bo, with them. With that, the people of the place were definitely ecstatic as it does not happen everyday that this Family would be spending a normal vacation there.
When the First Family arrived, there was a motorcade that greeted them with so much joie de vivre and celebration. Placards bear the names of the President’s two lovely daughters, Sasha and Malia, telling them that they were loved. Along the streets of Ashville, stores, boutiques and parlors have posters and signages welcoming the family, in an attempt to attract them to their business shops.
Some stores created gimmicks, like the bookstores which dedicated a whole section of their store to the President and named it the Barracks Obama. One store concocted a new alcohol beverage and called it the President’s Spring Break Ale. Other stores also tried to come up with a variety of Obama and First Family themed-products, especially using the media press releases and travels of the First President.
The First Family fully immersed themselves in the neighborhoods and communities around Ashville. While staying at the Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa, they were able to meet and encounter the locals, mixing and mingling with them around the place. They went to eat at the 12 Bones Smokehouse, a down-to-earth restaurant with many of the locals frequenting the place.
Here, they were immediately crowded by onlookers and people wanting to greet them and have a chat or their picture taken with the whole First Family. Soon after, the President, his wife, Michelle, and their two daughters Sasha and Malia proceeded to Grove Park Inn to rest for awhile. They then donned their hiking clothes and gear, and trekked the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Marty Nesbitt and Eric Whitaker, close friends of the President, flew in North Carolina and brought along their wives to join the First Family. They later played some golf at around sunset. The next day, the President was seen driving around the golf park in the cart, oblivious to the curious stares of the other guests from the country club. Meanwhile, the First Lady played tennis, and some surmised that she went to the spa afterwards.
All in all, everyone in North Carolina, and even in the United States were so delighted to have someone as powerful as the President, spend a normal lifestyle and be like any other American.
