Five Reasons to Choose Municipal Tap Water

Most people turn up their nose at tap water, choosing bottled or expensive filtration systems instead. Here are five reasons why municipal water is the best.
- The Cost!
You won't find a cheaper source of water than municipally treated tap water. For the cost of a single bottle of water, you could fill it thousands of times from your tap. That makes bottled water a serious waste of money - what would you do with that extra cash?
- The Regulations
Municipally treated water is severely and heavily regulated. This cannot be said for bottled water manufacturers or the manufactures of home water treatment. Municipal water is tested and retested and tested again - and most jurisdictions have frequent surprise inspections to make sure everything is running at least to code.
- The Chlorine
Most people are turned off by chlorine, and think it is going to kill them. In fact, nothing could be farther from the truth. Chlorine in water disinfects it, and keeps it disinfected as it travels the pipes towards you. And at the levels the chlorine is kept at, it is completely safe for you, just not for bacteria or virus. On a technical note, chlorine dissociates in the water to become hydrochlorous acid. It is a very low level, usually around one part per million. When you drink this, it encounters your stomach acid at tens of thousands of parts per billion and is obliterated. Chlorine is only a taste and odor problem for some people, which can be easily remedied with inexpensive filters or just leaving it in the fridge overnight.
- The Availability
It's Sunday morning and your kid needs water to go to his soccer game. You want to boil water for your tea and oh no! The big jug on the water cooler is empty and you have no more! If you use tap water, you will never have this trouble. Just turn on the tap and its there, always.
- Who Do You Really Trust?
So you think tap water is going to kill you, huh? And why do you think that? Because you see commercials on T.V. that tell you if you don't buy their filter, all the impurities (that aren't there) from tap water are going to kill you? Are you telling me that you trust the word of people who are trying to sell you something to make money over the word of the municipal employees who stand only to lose a lot of money and their freedom (we're talking jail time, people) if they produce unsafe water? Let's get real, people.
There you have it. Five reasons why municipal water is the water to trust. I hope you take this to heart, because it will save you time and money in the end.
