A directory is a site that allows webmasters to submit links. Webmaster submits their website to the directories so that it can rank higher on the search engine. New websites need links in order to rank on the search engine. Without links, nobody will know if the site exists on the internet. This is because a search engine won’t index a site that has no links. Submitting sitemap to Google will not help your site to get index. The sitemap only help your site to get indexed if you have links pointing to your site. If you depend on sitemap submission, the search engine will take a long time to get your site indexed.
Many webmasters claim that submitting their site to the directories help to get it indexed. You can also use article submission to get your site indexed. Directory submission allow you to obtain thousands of high quality links because most of the directories have high page rank. By submitting to the directories, you will be able to have a lot of one way links.
When submitting to the directory, make sure you read the guidelines carefully. The guidelines are published on the submission page. Most directories don’t allow you to stuff the title and descriptions with keyword. Using too many keywords will cause the search engine to regard you as a spammer. You can use 2 – 3 keywords in the description. You must use the official title as the title for the site. Most directories will reject submission that uses a different title than the official title of the site. The description should briefly summarize all the content on the site. You cannot use promotional words in the descriptions, such as "buy from us" or etc. Many directories allow you to add keywords to the listing. The keywords are used to rank your site when visitor is performing a search on the directory. You can use free keyword suggestion tool to find relevant keywords for you site. The keyword you use must be searchable by the visitor. For example, if you have a rose gardening, you can use the keyword, rose, gardening, information, and flowers. Some directories restrict the number of keywords you can use. It is important not to enter more keywords than the specified number of keywords. If you enter more keywords, the editor may reject your submission and request you to resubmit it.
You can always outsource the directory submission to a SEO company. The SEO company will submit your site to the directories so that it get indexed within a short time frame. The SEO company knows how to follow the submission guidelines so that your site is submitted in the proper way. The cost of the directory submission is not expensive. They are rather cheap and affordable. You should only sign up with reputable SEO company to ensure the directory submission is done properly. Reputable SEO company must have several years of experience in the field. The SEO company should not charge the submission service lower than the market price. Most of the time, cheap directory submission service is done by using automated software.
